Overriding the style of the subparts makes it so that you are forcing display:block, when perhaps they want display:inline, or display: inlink-block. Additionally, you should probably include a hidden input field for readonly fields as otherwise they will not be submitted as form data when the form is submitted (Because you changed it to a span).<br /><br />Again, you shouldn't hard code the styles in your control (Italicize, etc) for watermarks, just add a class called "watermarked" to the control and let the programmer style it themselves.
